For assessing the water quality of reservoirs in Taiwan, the EPA monitors 105 monitoring sites in 51 reservoirs. Monitored items including water temperature, transparency, pH, DO, turbidity, conductivity, SS, hardness, total alkalinity, NH3-N, COD, nitrate nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, organic nitrogen, total phosphorus, chlorophyll a, and phosphate for every season.
The measured results are expressed by Carlson trophic status index, CTSI, which is calculated by transparency, total phosphorus and chlorophyll a to assess the degree of eutrophication.
